RT 138 Cafe is a vintage cafe just off exit 44 of I-55. Great value and the friendly faces serving up delicious food make this stop a repeat place if traveling to or from St Louis again. We had breakfast, but the lunch special and menu items looked very good as well.

If you know the dynamics of a horseshoe, you’ll sometimes find a so so pair of patties or other meat hidden by fries and a tone of cheese. There’s serious beef under there and incredibly friendly service. If you like the old school restaurant/diner feel, take a drive to Rte 138

This a great stop off the 55 interstate. The staff was kind and attentive. The portions are big at a fair price. It's a great spot for home cooking. It has the atmosphere of a small town diner. I had the double cheeseburger, and it was huge. Next time, I'll try something different. They serve breakfast all day, so I'll probably try that next time, or maybe the meatloaf? Either way, I'm sure it will be delicious. I'll let yall know next time I visit.

Food was great. They were busy and the one waitress had her hands full and did the best she could. Our food came out fast, but we had to wait a little long for the ticket. The hamburger was amazing! Possibly 1/2 lb hand formed and cooked to perfection. Also had a BLT on rye, very tasty. One person in our party asked for NO onions on his breakfast slammer, but they were easy enough to scape off. There were 5 of us. One had grilled cheese, and one had an omelet made to order, just right. Interesting decor... Everything on the walls and shelving was for sale! Fun! Plenty of parking and easy in and out for our RV.

Very cozy place. Our tire blew and luckily we made it to this awesome place. The people there are truly those "they don't make em like that anymore", kinda people. The food was amazing. They had us feeling like regulars by the time we could pull off. Thanks for everything!
